Biography

Mr. Elza Lester, 94, a retired merchant, died Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at his daughter’s home in Oxford, MS. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. John Kramer officiating. A graveside service will be held Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Portageville Memorial Cemetery in Portageville, MO. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:00 until 2:00 at Waller Funeral Home.

Mr. Lester was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Oxford, MS and served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Mullins Lester and son, Dr. Larry Lester.

Survivors include a daughter Susan Eftink and son-in-law Maurice of Oxford, MS; 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

In honor of Mr. Lester’s service to his country, the flag of the United States Navy will be flown at Waller Funeral Home.
