Biography

Mrs. Mildred E. Bishop, 84, a homemaker, died Sunday, July 3, 2011 at her residence in Oxford. The funeral service will be Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Philadelphia Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Irvin officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery. Visitation will precede the service from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at Philadelphia Baptist Church. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Hickory Flat, MS, Mrs. Bishop was the widow of Little Jim Bishop. She was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church and was an active participant in the Philadelphia Senior Citizens Center. Aside from enjoying gardening, cooking and sunday school, Mrs. Bishop had an unwavering love for her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, James Edwards Bishop.

Survivors include one daughter, Mildred Faye Dunn and her husband, Wayne of Oxford, MS; four sons, Joe Bishop and his wife, Kay of Oxford, MS, Jerry Bishop and his wife, Myra Kay of Oxford, MS, Larry Bishop and his wife, Gloria of Oxford, MS and Robby Bishop and his wife, Joyce Ann of Water Valley, MS; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
