Aubrey W. Walker
August 21, 1924 - January 9, 2011
Mr. Aubrey W. Walker, 86, a retired power plant operator at The University of Mississippi, died Sunday, January 9, 2011 at his home in Oxford. The funeral service will be Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Morgan and Rev. Charles Lipe officiating. Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service Wednesday, January 12, 2011 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M. at Waller Funeral Home.

Born in Craighead County, Arkansas, Mr. Walker was a veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Army. He was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church, the O.D. Smith Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the York Rite and he was a Wahabi Shriner. Mr. Walker was an active member of the Lafayette County Volunteer Fire Department and the Lafayette County Search and Rescue.

Survivors include his wife, Marie F. Walker of Oxford; two daughters, Shirley Mason and her husband Robert of Oxford and Rebecca Bennett Grier and her husband Jackie of Calhoun City; four grandchildren, Steven Bennett and his wife, Sonia of Charleston, MS, Carla-Jo Rutledge and her husband, Tony of Oxford, Terry Bennett and his wife, Kayla of Ridgeland, MS and Karen Mason of Oxford; two step-grandchildren, Marsha Morgan of Starkville, MS and Robert Grier and his wife, Heather of Calhoun City; two great-grandchildren, William Kyle Bennett and Kristen Lynn Bennett of Ridgeland, MS; four step-great-grandchildren, Lindsay Rae McKay of Charleston, MS, Tyler Reid Morgan of Ackerman, MS, Gabe Hunter Morgan of Ackerman, MS and Daraka Renee Grier of Calhoun City, MS.

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy in Mr. Walker's memory be made to the Clear Creek Cemetery Fund, 50 CR 313, Oxford, MS 38655.

In honor of Mr. Walker's service to his country the flag of the United States Army will be flown at Waller Funeral Home.
