Obituary for Margaret Elaine Higgins McCauley Ferguson

Margaret Elaine Higgins McCauley Ferguson, 100, died Thursday, November 30, 2017, at her home, Brookdale Assisted Living Facility in Oxford, MS. The rosary service will begin Monday, December 11, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. with the funeral mass immediately following at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Joe Tonos officiating. Inurnment will be in the Columbarium at St. John’s. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in North Vernon, Indiana, to the late Haskel and Bertha Evererett Higgings, Mrs. Ferguson was the owner/operator of a music record store called The Record Bar. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She lived at Brookdale Assisted Living Facility and had a sign on her door that stated, “If I’m not here, I’m in Tunica”. The family would like to thank the workers and staff from Camellia Hospice and Brookdale for their loving and attentive care. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul James McCauley and Paul E. Ferguson.

Survivors include her son, James “Jim” McCauley and his wife, Marge of Oxford, MS; sisters, Ruth E. Hill of Oxford, MS and Roseann Vickers of Franklin, IN; brother, James Higgins of Henderson, NV; grandchildren, Jeffrey McCauley and his wife, Stacey of Olive Branch, MS, Michael McCauley and his wife, Monti of Memphis, TN, Jennifer McCauley Burford and her husband, Nelson of Germantown, TN; great-grandchildren, Kirby McCauley and Jonathan McCauley of Memphis, TN, Colin McCauley of Olive Branch, MS, Riley Burford and Madison Burford of Germantown, TN and one great-great grandchild, Cloe James McCauley of Memphis, TN.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Ferguson’s memory may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Building Fund, 416 South 5th Street, Oxford, MS; Leisure Lifestyles, Oxford Park Commission, 310 South 15th Street, Oxford, MS 38655 or to Memory Makers Respite Day Services, 311 Heritage Drive, Oxford, MS 38655.
